AI Sires to be Used For 2010 Breeding Season

AI Ram Mori 02-935

Mori is polled and moorit. Short and broad neck, good shoulders and conformation. Broad back and very muscled rump. Good leg muscling. Even and good moorit colour on the fleece, thick and lustrous fleece. Wool quantity well above average.
Mori is related to many AI sires and was mostly been used to produce moorit sheep in a small flock before he was bought to Southram. His progenies have good meat qualities and Mori is without any doubt one of the best coloured rams ever bought for AI.   Southram reports that his BLUP scores are 95 for carcass, 123 for fat grading, 112 meat qualities, 113 for prolifiacy and 112 for milking abilities.  He is Homozygous for moorit and carries spotting.
Mori hasn't proven himself as father to daughters so far but considering his pedigree he should produce good daughter's.  Mori was bred with  Nanna  for 2008 lambs.

AI Ram Langidalur - 01-931

Langidalur is a polled white ram born in 2001 and carries solid pattern and moorit color.  He is the son of AI sire Dalur, 97-838.  Langidalur has a great overall score of 85.5, with neck and shoulders grading 8.5, chest 8.5, back 8.5, rump 9.0, leg 18.0, wool 8.5, overall harmony at 8.5.  His lambs should bring rapid improvement to a flock.  Their average scores for 2006 are:  chest 8.3, back 8.2, rump 8.4, leg 17.0, wool 8.1, total 82.2.  Langidalur's BLUP for leanness is 114, muscling 104 and composite meat score is 110.    SouthRam reports that his mother is a superb milker,  Langidalur is now dead.       

Bogi - 04-814

Bogi is described by SouthRam as being; white and polled with vigorous head. Broad and muscular shoulders. Broad chest and good rib shape. Broad and strong back. Long, broad and well muscled rump. Excellent leg muscling. Strong feet. Long-bodied and very powerful ram.  No tan fibers in the fleece. Average wool quantity. Thick and even thel. A bit coarse thog, short and mostly vanished on the back.  Bogi was used as a breeding ram at the very well known farm, Heydalsa, for four years. All those years he was superior in progeny tests. In 2007 his progenies had an average dressing weight of 16,8 kg scoring very high in meat grading. Bogi carries on superb leanness and is without any doubt one of the best polled AI rams regarding meat qualities. 
His daughters have excellent milking abilities as well as good prolifically.  Bogi is Homozygous white and his Scrapie inheritance is neutral.

 

Skrauti 07-826

Skrauti is described by SouthRam as being; moorit spotted and polled with broad and vigorous head. Round and muscular shoulders and good rib shape. Broad and well muscled back. Good rump and leg muscling. Straight and strong feets. Rather long-bodied and powerful ram.  Light moorit color. Even fleece, lot of thel but very little thog. Wool quantity below average.

Skrauti was noticed as a lamb at the Snefellsnes county ram show in 2007. In 2008 his progenies performed that well he was bought for AI'ing. Skrauti has been used in rather small flock so he has fewer progenies than other AI rams.  Skrauti has no daughter records yet but his mother is a reliable twinner with good milking abilities.

 

Falur 03-980

Falur is described by SouthRam as being; White and polled with vigorous and powerful head. Extremely good shoulder muscling and especially good neck and body connection. Good rib shape. Very good back muscling and superb loin muscling. The legs are very muscular. Strong feet’s. Long bodied and powerful ram.
Tan on head with black spots on head and feet’s. No tan or black fibers in the fleece. Wool quantity above average. Thick thel and little, short curly and fine thog. Soft wool.
Falur’s results has been very good. He was progeny tested in 2004 and 2005 resulting in very good meat grading. His qualities are mainly good muscling, leanness and good dressing weight.
His daughters have good milking abilities but prolificacy below average.

 

Garpur 04-815

Garpur is described by SouthRam as being; White and polled with vigorous head. Broad shoulders and neck with good muscling. Broad chest and very good rib shape. Broad, strong and well muscled back. Long, broad and very well muscled rump. Superb leg muscling. Straight and strong feet. Long-bodied, powerful and well muscled ram. 
No tan fibers in the fleece but one black drop on his nose. Wool quantity well above average. Thick thel but short thog and rather coarse.
Garpur has been one of the best breeding rams at the well known Smahamrar farm. His progenies are very mature. In 2007 his progenies had an average dressing weight of 19 kg with a very good carcass and fat grading.  His daughters have average prolificacy with good milking abilities.  Garpur is heterozygous and carries spotting and moorit.

AI Ram Mokollur

Mokollur is polled and moorit. Broad and good looking head. Broad shoulders and average conformation. Broad back and broad and well muscled rump. Good leg muscling. Very longbodied ram. Rather light moorit and greyish spots in the fleece. Good wool quantity and even fleece.
Mokollur is new AI ram and is bought because of his colour and good bloodline. As his indexes show his progenies have good meat qualities.
Mokollur's father is one of the best father to daughters ever and his mother is a reliable twinner with good milking abilites. Therfore Mokollur is expected to be good father to daughters

AI Ram Orvar

White and polled with vigorous head. Broad neck and shoulders with good muscling. Good conformation. Good back muscling and broad and very muscular loins. Very good gigot muscling. Strong feet’s. Strong and beautiful ram with great body length.  No tan or black fibers in the fleece. Thick and even fleece with lot of thel. Rather little thog, short on back and a bit coarser on the sides. Good and soft wool.
Orvar was progeny tested in 2007 resulting in great dressing weight and good meat and fat grading. He has also scored very well in lamb evaluation.  His daughters are prolific and his mother is a reliable twinner with great milking abilities.  Orvar has an overall score of 87.0

AI Rams Used in 2007 - 2008 Breeding Season

AI Ram Thokki 01-878

A white polled ram born 2001, Thokki is immediately noticed for his immense quantity of shiny, white fleece, and indeed his wool score is an amazing 9.0.  Thokki has an overall score of 83.5 with neck and shoulders at 8.5, chest 8.0, back 8.5, rump  8.5, leg 17.0 and overall harmony at 8.0.  He is heterozygous for pattern and carries spotting and moorit.  Southram reports that Thokki has a superb progeny test score of 146; his lambs have a very thick eye muscle.  His scrapie inheritance is neutral.   Thokki's most recent lamb statistics are from 2005, and they are as follows:  chest 8.4, back 8.3, rump 8.4, leg 17.0, wool 8.2, symmetry 8.1, total 82.3.  Thokki's BLUP meat scores are 112 right through, fat, muscling and composite score.  His daughters score well at fertility +10, index 108 with 141 daughter years reporting.  Thokki died in 2006.  Thokki was used on Astrid for 2008 lambs.

 

Lykill

Lykill is polled and white. Broad and vigorous head. Rounded and extremely well muscled shoulders. Rounded and very wide chest. Back and loin muscling superb. Good leg muscling. Vigorous and round-bodied ram. No tan fibers and very good wool quantity. Even and medium fine thog.
Lykill was bought because of good results at his home farm. His progenies have showed very good meat grading and leanness as his indexes clearly state.
Lykill's daughter's have prolifacy below average and average milking abilities.  Lykill is heterozygous white carrying spotted and moorit so all colours are possible on his progenies
